Women in Business
MAKEHERS is a business accelerator program developed by the Hacker Lab team. It was created to address the unique needs of economically disadvantaged women, offering Sacramento women holistic business solutions and support. Women wear many hats and juggle quite a bit while being historically underserved and this program seeks to change this by supporting female-led small business owners with tools to empower them personally, financially, and educationally.
MAKEHERS takes a holistic approach to business education by supporting and exploring social issues, wellness, community support, and financial literacy. The program will also include direct investment for all successful graduates. This 60-day accelerator will provide our cohort’s venture with a solid foundation by providing access to this supportive programming.
MAKEHERS is powered by Hacker Lab and our awesome funders, the Sacramento Inclusive Economic Development Collaborative (Sac IEDC), SMUD, and Kaiser Permanente.

Many systemic issues hinder the success and prosperity of low-income women in entrepreneurship: biases in the business world; lack of representation, networking and mentorship; and other financial inequities.
Our Solution
MAKEHERS offers women a 60-day business accelerator that takes a holistic approach to entrepreneurship and powers their passion, backed with the tools and resources new business owners require for success.
